I just finished reading the book. IN-freaking-CREDIBLE... Made me laugh and cry - and whiplash back and forth between laughing and crying and nodding "oh, yeah" -  at even faster intervals -  than the ride itself did. A fabulous job on the book.  What a great service tothe ALC community, to GLBT folks, to all of us who have been welcomed into the warmth and silliness and caring and generosity of the Ride...and to those who will be...I will read it again.  heartwarming, hilarious... beautiful, actually.

...One of the funniest accounts of a personal journey I've read so far, and I haven't giggled this much in ages!...a wry sense of humor and great pacing

I got a little teary more than once, and laughed out loud just as many times. You've done a great job in capturing your experience on the page, and in doing so, have captured the essence of AIDS/LifeCycle

More than just a documentation of what happened, the book stands on its own as an entertaining and absorbing piece. Russ's humor comes through big time. His style is funny and down to earth. I thoroughly enjoyed the fluid pace and breezy delivery. Whether or not you are a long distance cyclist, are planning on experiencing the ALC ride, or are just someone who enjoys upbeat experiences vicariously, this book is a great read.

This book is an inspiration to all.  The humor that shines through such an enormous undertaking shows the amazing spirit and selflessness of the author.  If you are ever faced with a situation you think is difficult or impossible, you should read this book.  What I liked most about the book was that even when things were hard and not exactly going according to plan, the author finds the humor in the situation. This book helps me realize that things aren't nearly as bad as they seem if you keep positive outlook.
